EPDM gaskets offers a great seal for your Tri Clamp fitting and resist heat, abrasion, and strong acids. They have a normal operating temperature between -30ºF to 300ºF.
Silicone has a much wider acceptable temperature range (-55°F to 446°F) than other materials such as EPDM. This Higher acceptable temperature rating make silicone gaskets ideal for hot side applications in the brewing process. They are less resistant to acid and caustic chemicals and tend to show signs of wearing before EPDM.
PTFE, otherwise known as TEFLON, has a low coefficient of friction and provide excellent thermal insulation. PTFE also resist corrosive chemicals. However PTFE is not well suited for applications where there is a large variation of temperature ranges.
